Best know for his ability to write Latin with one hand and Greek with the other.
Garfield was shot, and was in bed for weeks for the nursing of the wound. Then Alexander Graham Bell, (the inventor of the telephone) went to the President and used a metal detector that he invented to find the bullet. So went he got the signal for metal they searched for the bullet. This happened many times, but they never found the bullet. Later on September 19, 1881 James Garfield died of infection. Later they discovered that the metal detector was finding bed springs rather than the bullet.

He was president for 1 half year. He was born in November 19, 1831 and was born at Orange,Ohio. He had 7 children and a wife named Lucretia Rudoph Garfield. He was a lawyer before he was president. He was the 20th president. He got shot. He was the second president to get assassinated. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He also wanted to move into the White House when he was a little boy. He died on September 19, 1881.
